Delores “Dee” Payne, 79, of Hillsboro, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, at Hillsboro Area Hospital.
Private family funeral services were held. Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Sorento assisted the family.
Mrs. Payne was born Nov. 16, 1941, in Nokomis, the daughter of Harold and Mary Louise (Dilley) Parks. She married Hugh “Buck” Payne on March 17, 1962, in Hillsboro, and they later divorced.
A 1959 graduate of Greenville High School, she was a homemaker, and a devoted, loving daughter, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed watching TV, especially The Golden Girls and Happy Days, and having her hair and nails done.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Fleming of Hillsboro; granddaughters, Erica Fleming of Hillsboro and Vanessa Fleming of Mt. Olive; great-granddaughter, Briella Osborn; siblings, Harold Dean (wife Marlene) Parks of Hillsboro, Mary Ellen Henron of Hillsboro and Ronald Lynn (wife Terri) Parks of Old Ripley; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Jean Allister; brother, Ralph Eugene Parks; and nephew, Gene L. Herndon III.
