Dennis Earl Nail, 59, of Litchfield, died on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019, at 5:25 p.m. at his home.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 28, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 12 p.m. at the church with Bishop Lonnie Bruce officiating. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is assisting the family.

Mr. Nail was born July 24, 1960, in Litchfield, to Earl Leroy and Beverly June (Yemm) Nail.

He graduated from Litchfield Community High School with the class of 1978. Prior to entering college, he served a two-year mission in Chile for his church. Upon completion of his mission, he attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT, where he received his bachelors of science in education.

During his career, Mr. Nail taught Spanish and world history for several years in Utah, California and Illinois. For the past several years, he served as cashier at the Litchfield Walmart, where he enjoyed interacting with his customers.

He loved the Lord and his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he was the organist. He had a love for music and enjoyed reading, writing in his daily journal, sharing his knowledge of history and having general conversations with people.

Mr. Nail was known to be an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and could deliver the statistics of any Cardinal player. He also loved watching Jeopardy.

He is survived by his mother of Litchfield; six daughters, Lola Marie Nail, Shannon Nail, Danielle Nail, Rebecca Nail, all of California, Rachel Nail of Arizona and Wendy Nail of Idaho; a brother, Greg Nail; two sisters, Diane (Steve) Gausepohl of Mt. Olive and Shera (Mark) Hunt of Litchfield; a granddaughter, Naomi Nail; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Nail was preceded in death by his father; and a niece, Cassie Horrocks.
