Dennis Lee Jagodzinski, 65, of Taylor Springs, died on Sunday, Aug. 2, at 2:47 a.m. at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Aug. 7, beginning at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery in Hillsboro, with Deacon Lee Johns of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Hillsboro officiating. Burial will be at St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Family and friends will meet at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro at 10:30 a.m. to process to the cemetery.

Funeral personnel will be following CDC guidelines with the use of masks and social distancing.

Mr. Jagodzinski was born on Jan. 31, 1955, in Litchfield, to the late Leo E. and Gladys Mae (Slifka) Jagodzinski. He married Dara Lou Pesko on May 22, 1976, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, and she survives in Taylor Springs.

A 1973 graduate of Hillsboro High School, he worked for more than 30 years for the Ameren Illinois Gas Department, as well as Labor Union 1084. 

Mr. Jagodzinski had attended classes for firefighting, and served many years as chief of the Taylor Springs Volunteer Fire Department. He also served on the Village of Taylor Springs Board of Trustees, as well as mayor of the village. 

During his life as a public servant, Mr. Jagodzinski was also a member of the Montgomery County Board, where he served as vice chairman.

In his free time, he loved to hunt, fish and golf. He was a member of Shoal Creek Ducks Unlimited and St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Jagodzinski is survived by one son, Brock Jagodzinski of Taylor Springs and one brother, Kevin Jagodzinski of Taylor Springs.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Montgomery County Cancer Association or the Taylor Springs Volunteer Fire Department.
