Dennis Michael Miller, 78, of Decatur, died at 10:52 a.m. Sunday, March 29, 2026, in his home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, located at 1 Bachrach Ct. in Decatur. The Rev. Mark Gearig will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will follow the services in Harvel Cemetery in Harvel.
Mr. Miller was born on Jan. 13, 1948, in Decatur, a son of Harold Homer and Joyce M. (Meador) Miller. After he graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in 1966, he went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.
He married Lois Kay (Wernsing) VanZant on Dec. 9, 1994, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Decatur and she survives.
Mr. Miller later worked on the production line at ADM—Stratus Foods in Decatur for 32 years until his retirement in 2013. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Decatur. He enjoyed working outdoors and around his home.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Miller is survived by his stepsons, Christian “Chris” (Alison) VanZant of Denver, CO, Mitchell (Becky) VanZant of Forsythe and Daniel (Shara Lange) VanZant of Johnson City, TN; stepdaughter, Vanessa VanZant of Decatur; brother, Steven (Cheryl) Miller of Leesburg, FL; six step-grandchildren, Lynzee, Lauren, Landon, Calvin, Maddie and Ruby VanZant; and aunt, Betty Miller of Decatur.
