Dennis Ray “Denny” Moore, 74, of Walshville, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020 at 11:10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.

Private family services will be held Friday, Jan. 8, at 11 a.m. at the Walshville Christian Church in Litchfield. Reverends Mark Johnson and Steve Revisky will co-officiate. There will be no visitation and burial will follow in the Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.

Mr. Moore was born on May 1, 1946, in Litchfield, the son of the late John and Edith (Akeman) Moore. He graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1964 and went on to attend the University of Illinois for one year before graduating from St. Louis Christian College.

On Aug. 11, 1972, he married Linda Titsworth at the Walshville Christian Church  and she survives.

In his younger years, Mr. Moore worked on the family farm and later spent 21 years as an employee at the Milnot Company in Litchfield. Most recently, he was the sexton of Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield until his retirement in 2009.

A member of the Walshville Christian Church, where he was an elder and a Sunday school teacher, Mr. Moore loved being around his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was also an animal lover and enjoyed watching movies, reading and mushroom hunting in his leisure time.

In addition to his wife of 48 years, Mr. Moore is also survived by his son, Tim Moore of Las Cruces, NM; daughters, Christy Moore of Litchfield and Andrea Moore of O’Fallon; grandchildren, Jacob and Mackenzie Cunningham, Colby Moore and Charlotte Rizzuti-Moore; brothers, Roger (Myrna) Moore of Greencastle, IN and James (Nadine) Moore of Rockbridge; sister, Gloria Howard of Hillsboro; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Moore.
