An overnight fire destroyed a Hillsboro downtown building early Thursday, Oct. 10.
Hillsboro firefighters were called at 3:03 a.m. to 509 S. Main Street in downtown Hillsboro, the home of Rising Sun Martial Arts, owned by Son Clayton, who lives above the business. No one was injured in the blaze.
There was smoke damage to buildings on either side of the facility, including the Orpheum Theatre.
Twenty-one Hillsboro firefighters were on scene two and a half hours. The origin of the blaze is still under investigation. The state fire marshal was on the scene Thursday morning.
A Go Fund Me account to help Clayton with expenses incurred from the fire has been set up by local residents. For more information or to make a donation, visit www.gofundme.com/son-clayton-fire-damage-to-business.
