Donald E. Bray, 86, of Litchfield died Sunday, May 10, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. at Heritage Health Therapy & Sr. Care in Gillespie.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Roy Eller, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in rural Litchfield, officiating.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.

Mr. Bray was born on Oct. 26, 1928, in Zanesville Township in Litchfield, the son of the late Harold M. and Mary Irene (Nail) Bray. He married Esther Pitzmeyer, and they later divorced.

He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in rural Litchfield and a lifelong farmer in Honey Point Township where he lived most of his life.

In his leisure time, Mr. Bray  enjoyed wood working, camping, boating, bicycling, visiting libraries and puzzles. He was a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his cousins, Henry (Jane) Nail and Loyd (Betty) Nail, all of Litchfield, Joan (Don) McVey of Roxana and Wanda (Tom) Henesey of Alton; and cousin-in-law, Beverly Nail of Litchfield.

Besides his parents, Mr. Bray was preceded in death by a cousin, Earl Nail.

Memorials may be directed to New Hope Baptist Church in rural Litchfield or the Montgomery County Cancer Association.
