Donald 'Don' E. Snow, 69

Donald "Don" Eugene Snow, 69, of Jacksonville, died on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield from complications with Parkinson's disease and dementia.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 21, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Jacksonville Assembly of God. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be held at Diamond Grove Cemetery. Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Snow was born Oct. 9, 1948. He married Vicky Perkins on July 20, 1969, in Vandalia, and she survives.

He graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1966, and enlisted in the U.S. Army just two years later, serving in Indiana, Georgia and Germany, where he served for 22 months with his wife.

Mr. Snow started working at the Hillsboro Power Plant (CIPS) in March 1972, and retired from Ameren IP after 38 years of service. He worked at the Newton Power Plant, Central Office in Springfield and Meredosia Power Plant until retirement. He worked in power plant construction, budgeting and cost accounting positions.

He loved to go deer hunting and fishing, and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Illini basketball. He was a great man of God, loved his Lord and served him faithfully as a church board member, Royal Rangers leader, Sunday School teacher and usher.

Mr. Snow's greatest love was his wife, children and grandchildren. He was loved by all who knew him, was a very conscientious worker, honest and loyal. There was not a finer man than him. He was proud of his children, grandchildren and their accomplishments.

In addition to his wife of 49 years, he is survived by three children, Shari (Mark) Ballard of Ripley, TN, Shelley (Tony) Petre of Macon, MO, and Jason (Naomi) Snow of Overland Park, KS; and six grandchildren, Luke and Elizabeth Ballard, Liam, Colin and Owen Snow and Ainsley Petre.

Mr. Snow was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Chet, Ben and Bob; and an infant sister.
