Donald Edwin Mueller Sr., 75, of Hillsboro died on Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, at 7:46 p.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 7, at 5 p.m., at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Military Rites will be accorded by the Department of Defense following the service at the church. Visitation will precede the services on Thursday, Sept. 7 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro. The Rev. Michael Plummer, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro will officiate.

Mr. Mueller was born on May 14, 1948 in Highland, to the late Theodore and Veronica (Turnoprovich) Mueller. He was a 1966 graduate of Collinsville High School in Collinsville, and would serve in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.

He married Carol Kershaw on Dec. 2, 1967 at Maryville Baptist Church in Maryville, and she survives in Hillsboro.

He worked as an operation supervisor for Shell Oil Refinery in Wood River, and lived in Collinsville, Staunton, Bunker Hill, Kansas while serving and Hillsboro.

He was a member of  the V.F.W. Post #1308 in Alton, the Woodburn Bible Church in Bunker Hill and Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro.

He is survived by his wife; three children, Donald (Shannon) Mueller Jr. of Moro, Michael (wife, Lisa) Mueller of Wisconsin and Jeffrey Mueller of Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Lauren Dunn, Jacob, Tristan, Milo and Stella Mueller; one great grandchild, Izadora Mueller; and his siblings Ted, Paul and Pat Mueller.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchild Casey Mueller; and brother William Mueller in infancy.
