Donald Groetecke, 70, of Taylor Springs, died on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 10, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro. A memorial service will follow, beginning at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Belleville. Those attending are asked to adhere to CDC guidelines by wearing masks and social distancing.
Mr. Groetecke was born on Jan. 16, 1950, in East St Louis, to Harry and Jean Groetecke. He married Joann Goleaner, and she survives.
Mr. Groetecke worked at Olin Brass in Alton as an industrial electrician. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Mr. Groetecke is survived by his wife; four sons, Donnie, Ronnie, Michael and Aaron Groetecke; five grandchildren; and one brother, Roderick Groetecke.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Groetecke; and one sister, Marion Boyer.
