Donna Daughtry, 85, of Taylorville, died Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 3:37 a.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dick Wamsley officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Mrs. Daughtry was born Oct. 11, 1935, in Pana, the daughter of Raymond and Ogretta (Schafle) Kramer. She married Dale L. Daughtry on Nov. 4, 1956, at the First United Methodist Church in Millersville, where she was also a member. Her husband preceded her in death.

She was a 1954 graduate of Taylorville High School. After graduation, she worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for eight-and-a-half years. She left the company when her daughter was born in 1962. She worked for many years in the fields, helping her husband farm after his heart attack. She was a devoted 4-H leader of the Clover Club for 13 years.

After retiring from farming, she worked as a bookkeeper for Sangamon Greeting Card Company for 15 years, retiring in 1999. She then worked part-time for the Sangamon Card Company as a bookkeeper until Dec. 31, 2011. She also worked at The Best for Less store part-time and was a caregiver. She was loved by many, and will be remembered for her smile and many acts of kindness and generosity.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Todd) Chambers of Taylorville; grandson, Alex (Elysa) Chambers of Morrisonville; sisters, Shirley Behrends of Brownstown, Carole (Roy) Swigert of Taylorville and Sharon Downs of Taylorville; brother, Ray Kramer of Bingham; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandparents.
