Donna Sue (Betoche) Springer, 67, of Hillsboro, died on Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, at 3:20 p.m. at her residence.

A memorial visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. A Celebration of Life will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 1, beginning at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro with the Rev. Rem Dyas officiating. Cremation rites were accorded.

Mrs. Springer was born Feb. 24, 1952, in Hillsboro, to Don and Alta (Schoeneweis) Betoche. She married Dennis Springer on Feb. 25, 1972, at the First Presbyerian Church in Hillsboro, and he survives.

She graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1970, and went on to obtain a bachelor's degree in elementary education and music from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.

During her career, Mrs. Springer served as a school teacher for Hillsboro School District for 31 years, teaching elementary education and music. 

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro and the Irving Displaced Personnel Society (D.I.P.S.) in Irving. She was an avid bowler who was trained as a classical pianist, playing in several bands and also taught piano classes.

Mrs. Springer loved to watch her children perform with their bands and loved dogs, especially her Great Dane, Cagoon. She was a Hillsboro resident her entire life.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Job (wife Lali Acuna) Springer of Los Angeles, CA, and Jacob (Jessi) Springer of Litchfield; two grandchildren, Matilda and Bruno Springer; and two sisters, Connie (husband Jim) Harling of Hillsboro and Cindy (husband Steve) Simburger of Taylor Springs.

Mrs. Springer was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be directed to the Beckemeyer School Music Department or the Hillsboro Area Hospital Respiratory Department.
