Doris Ann Falter, 89, of Carlinville, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2019, at Heritage Health Care in Carlinville.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Carlinville. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Tim Wilcoxen officiating. Burial will be held in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Falter was born Aug. 12, 1930, in Carlinville, a daughter of Virgil A. "Dutch" and Lucille Evelyn (Griffel) Imel. She married Edgar Jacob Falter, Jr. on April 6, 1947, at Zion Lutheran Church in Carlinville, and he preceded her in death in 2013.

She enjoyed raising her family and helping on the family farm. She was a part of the Macoupin County Home Extension, and loved bowling. She was a former Girl Scout leader. 

Her free time was spent on the amateur ham radio. She was known as "Sweet Pea" to her friends on the air. She was a lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Carlinville.

She is survived by her son, David E. (Brenda) Falter of Raymond; daughters, Regina M. Hansen of Springfield and Arleen A. (Kevin) Huff of Rangely, CO; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Shirley L. Falter of Carlinville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by infant sister, Bernice.
