Doris J. Buck, 77, of Taylorville died at 11:31 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Shafer-Perfetti and Assalley Funeral Home, located at 202 W. Franklin St. in Taylorville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 26, beginning at 11 a.m. at Taylorville Christian Church, located at 1124 N. Webster St. in Taylorville with Rev. Dick Wamsley officiating.

Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Mrs. Buck was born on Dec. 23, 1940 in Witt, the daughter of Jesse O. and A. Pauline (Kessler) Oller.  She married Thomas L. Buck on Nov. 1, 1975 in Waukegan, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 2005.

For more than 25 years, Mrs. Buck worked for Sara Lee in Deerfield, before moving back to the Taylorville area.  She received her CNA certification, and spent many years as an in-home healthcare aide for Addias Healthcare.  

She was a longtime member of the Taylorville Christian Church, where she was member of their hospitality group. Recently, she was involved with the Respiratory Therapy Club at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  

Mrs. Buck enjoyed sewing, crocheting, scrapbooking and flower gardening. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Nylene (fiancé, Steve Kuhn) Wilson of Avon, IN, and Diane (husband Scott) Smith of Eastland, TX; grandchildren, Brian Wilson of Taylorville, Nicole Wilson of Indianapolis, IN, Jessica (husband, Josh) Williams of Taylorville, Billy Merrick of Taylorville, Jenny Merrick of Fargo, ND, Chase Smith of Marengo, and Kalyn Smith of Eastland, TX; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Nygel, Heather, Isaias, Destiny, Jocelyn, Noah, Drew and Hunter; sisters, Barbara McKinnon and Linda (husband Bill) Moma, both of Taylorville; one aunt and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara R. Merrick; brothers, Keith, Earl, Butch and Chuck Oller; sisters, Joyce Dees, Donna Travelsted and Juanita Lawrence and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
