Doris Mary Allen, 87, of Litchfield, died on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at 4:23 p.m. in her home.
No visitation will be held. Private family services will be conducted Friday, April 17, with the Rev. Jason Plumer of the First Baptist Church in Litchfield officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is assisting the family.
Mrs. Allen was born Dec. 18, 1932, in Litchfield, to Taylor and Alice (Gooden) Pettijohn. She married David Roy Allen on Aug. 7, 1953, in Litchfield, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 2006.
She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church in Litchfield since 1932, where she helped serve funeral dinners and was active in Keenagers Group.
Mrs. Allen enjoyed going for walks, working in her garden and going fishing.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Mary Lou) Allen of Litchfield; daughter, Carol (Bill) Meisner of Athens; three grandchildren, Leah (Todd) Gualandi of Highland, Jesse (Kabrianna) Allen of Granite City and Zachary Allen of St. Louis, MO; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Robert Pettijohn.
Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church in Litchfield or the Litchfield Food Pantry.
