Dorothy White, 95, of Vandalia, formerly of Fillmore, died Monday, March 22, 2021, at 6:55 p.m. at SBL Fayette County Hospital and Long-Term Care Center in Vandalia.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 29, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Fillmore Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. at the church with Pastor Vincent White officiating. Burial will be held in Green Hill Cemetery in Van Burensburg. Sutton Funeral Home in Nokomis is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. White was born April 23, 1925, in Fillmore, the daughter of Cecil and Marie (Miller) Merriman. She married the Rev. Dallas White on Feb. 21, 1946, in Coffeen, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 2007.
She is survived by her son, Donald (Janet) White of Old Fort, NC; daughters, Connie (Marlin) Hartwig of Ft. Atkinson, WI, Sandra White of Vandalia and Dana (Pat) Dietschweiler of Ft. Atkinson, WI; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth McCray of Hillsboro and Loretta (John) Ulmer of Greenville; a brother, Leland Merriman of Florida; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Danny White; sisters, Juanita Simmons and Helen Merriman; and brothers, Ray Merriman and Loy Merriman.
Memorials may be made to Green Hill Cemetery.
