“She was a very naturally kind person,” Doyle Public Library director Sharla Riley said of a former board member who now has a bench in her memory at the library in Raymond.
Kim Hopper was the secretary of the Doyle Public Library Board until her tragic death on Nov. 11, 2019. After a fundraiser generated more than $700 for a memorial, the library placed a bench in her honor on the front porch of the building in Raymond.
The bench was installed by Max Neunaber of Harvel, and beautiful gold lettering courtesy of former library board treasurer Judy Weitekamp memorializes the honoree, along with the hashtag #KimKind.
According to her husband Aaron Hopper, donations to #KimKind have not only benefitted the Raymond area, but also helped a library in Haiti.
The library director said that Hopper was not only a leader in her church, community and the library, she and her family were some of the library’s most frequent patrons.
“She has a place in our library forever,” Riley said.
