Dwain F. Hagemeier, 95, of Nokomis, died Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at his residence with his family by his side.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 17, from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Nokomis. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Christen Prumm officiating. Military Rites will be accorded. Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is assisting the family.
Mr. Hagemeier was born on July 3, 1929, in Hillsboro, to Oscar and Matilda (Bruns) Hagemeier. He married Betty Yurgin on July 1, 1951 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Nokomis. He served the United States in the Army from 1951-1953, receiving a Purple Heart in the Korean War. He also was a recent recipient of a Quilt of Valor for his service.
Mr. Hagemeier was a lifelong farmer and a proud member of the American Legion since 1955. He held many offices over the years at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. However, he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and supporting their sporting events.
In addition to his wife, Betty, Mr. Hagemeier is survived by his children, Dennis (Christine) Hagemeier, of Litchfield, OH, Denise McFarland, of Nokomis, Curt (Tina) Hagemeier, of Morrisonville and Jolene (Dennis) Regan of San Juan Capistrano, CA; eight grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Donna Lee Janssen and Carroll Hagemeier.
