I would like to voice my public support for Hillsboro School Board candidate Ed Ervin.
Ed has several goals that I believe in, but specifically: (1) expanding vocational training classes, and (2) updating and preserving our existing school buildings.
These two goals are imperative for our education system in our community. I believe he will stand for fiscal responsibility and transparency, and will be accountable for his successes, as well as his failures, which is a rare quality for people seeking public office.
A good way of looking for leadership is to not only look for a good candidate, but also a good person, and Ed fits both of these qualities. Ed has a strong connection to educators; his grandmother, his father, his sister, and his brother were all teachers. He has degrees from higher education focusing on engineering and management, and he has put those skills to work with 30-plus years of experience in local area factories.
The education system and schools in Hillsboro face many challenges, but I see that Ed has the education, experience, and commitment to be a valuable community representative on our school board with achievable goals for improving our community's schools. For these reasons, I endorse Ed Ervin for a position on the Hillsboro Community Unit School District School Board.
