Edwin Leroy "Red" Walker, 90, of Litchfield, died Thursday, June 14, 2018, at 10:21 a.m. in his home.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, June 21, at 6 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. A reception and time of fellowship will follow the services at the Litchfield Fireman's Club House at Lake Lou Yaeger. 

Mr. Walker was born May 31, 1928, in Litchfield, the son of Raymond and Alma (Regenhold) Walker. He married Norma Elaine Curto on Oct. 30, 1948, in Litchfield, and she survives.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served stateside during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Litchfield High School, class of 1946. 

He worked out of Local 84 as a business agent in Litchfield for 38 years, and served ten years as president of the 12 counties of Southwestern Illinois District Council. 

A member of Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield and American Legion Post #436, he served his community as an alderman in Ward 1, as a trustee of South Litchfield Township and as a volunteer for the Litchfield Fire Department for 28 years. 

He is survived by his daughter, Jenny (Robert A.) Cook of Litchfield; one granddaughter, Aimee McCormick; and one great-granddaughter, Abbegayle Stevenson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Alfred O. Marburger.

Memorials may be made to the Litchfield Volunteer Fire Department or Alzheimer's Association.
