Hillsboro grad and incoming University of Minnesota freshman Alex Eickhoff finished 11th overall in the American Junior Golf Association Under Armour/Jordan Spieth Championship on July 20-23, in Dallas, TX.
Playing at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Eickhoff shot a 2-under-par 214 for the 54-hole tournament, carding two of his three rounds under par.
In round one, Eickhoff shot a 71 on the 18-hole course, which measured 7,259 yards for the boys. He would do one better in the second round, finishing with a two-under 70, before going one-over on the final day to finish with a 214.
Eickhoff was paired with Hanseung Chang of Cedar Park, TX, and Jonas Appel of Encinitas, CA for the final round. Appel would win the tournament with a 205, beating Jase Summy of Keller, TX, by three strokes after posting the two best rounds of the tournament, a 66 in round one and a 65 in round three. In between, Appel shot a 2-over-par 74 in round two, which put him two strokes back in third going into the final day.
Eickhoff will be playing in the the AJGA’s Arnold Palmer Invitational at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Orlando, FL, on July 27-30. The 2020 grad will tee off at 7:50 a.m. from the first hold, along with Tony Chen of Shenzhen, China and Luke Clanton of Miami Lakes, FL.
