Elena Marie Ferrel, 53, of Bethalto, died on Friday, July 23, 2021, at 9:39 p.m. at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, July 29, beginning at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.
Ms. Ferrel was born Jan. 13, 1968, in Alton, to Angel Ferrel and Jean (Frohock) Choat.
During her career, she worked as a custodian at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton.
Ms. Ferrel was a member of the bowling league at Airport Plaza Bowl in Bethalto and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. She enjoyed sightseeing, camping, gatherings, fishing, karaoke, concerts and ball games, especially the Houston Astros and Houston Texans.
She is survived by her father; mother; daughter, Kara (companion Troy Gasser) Ferrel of Litchfield; dog, Petey; grandchildren, Olivia Gasser and Isabell Gasser; siblings, Greg (Michele) Ferrel of Hampton, VA, and Rebecca Ferrel of Staunton; nephews, Daniel Ferrel and Josh (Sarah) Finnegan; nieces, Emily Ferrel, Julia Ferrel and Leah Ferrel; and great-niece, Aria Finnegan.
