Elizabeth A. “Liz” Miller, 80, of Venice, FL, died on Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, at her residence.

A private memorial service will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 19, beginning at 2 p.m. at Venice Memorial Gardens in Venice, FL. Farley Funeral Home in Venice, FL, is assisting the family.

Ms. Miller was born Jan. 20, 1940, in Hillsboro, the middle daughter of Rice W. and Cleta L. Miller. She married Francis Siroky, and they later divorced.

Her family were prominent citizens of Hillsboro and operated the Nokomis Mine for generations. She grew up in Hillsboro, where her childhood days were filled with fun and adventure with her two sisters and cousin, Judy (Rice) Hauck. 

Ms. Miller maintained friendships with numerous classmates and neighbors throughout her life. As an adult, her summers in Hillsboro were highlights of her life, especially Old Settlers Day.

In 1958, her parents retired to Venice, FL, and she embarked on higher education at Stephens College and the University of Miami. After school, she married and raised two children in Venice. During these years, she helped manage farms in Hillsboro and was a successful real estate investor.

Ms. Miller had many friends in Venice during the over 60 years she lived there and would often comment how much she loved them. She would say, “When I needed them, they were always there, without question.”

She enjoyed traveling, entertaining and shopping. She loved her two sisters, children, grandchildren, great-grandchild Laylah, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and all her family, right behind shopping.

The family gives special thanks to Alexis, Barbie, Zoe, Karen, Pat, Annie and all the Senior Helpers staff that supported her during her years with Dementia. Their love and commitment will never be forgotten.

Ms. Miller is survived by her sister, Sue (Charles) Larson of Venice, FL; daughter, Susan Whalen; and three grandchildren, Andrew Whalen, Sarah Siroky and Shelby Whalen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; oldest sister, Mary Bridges; ex-husband, Francis Siroky; and son, Ryan Siroky.
