Elta M. Renken, 93, of Springfield, died on Monday, Feb. 17, 2020, at 2:11 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 20, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Springfield. Memorial services will follow, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Joshua Traxel of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church officiating. Dinner and fellowship will follow the services. Private family interment will be held at Auburn Cemetery. Plummer Funeral Home of Litchfield is assisting the family.
Mrs. Renken was born March 6, 1926, in Arenzville, to Albert H. and Johanna W. (Koresmeyer) Fricke. She married Leonard William Renken on May 13, 1951, in Chatham, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 2018.
She was a homemaker and member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Springfield.
Mrs. Renken is survived by her sons, James (Darlene) Renken of Philedelphia, PA, John (Diane) Renken of Springfield and Jay (Debi) Renken of San Diego, CA; brother, Norman (Ruthelma) Fricke of Petersburg; and four grandchildren, Trevor, Karli, Dylan and Savannah Renken.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Janet K. Renken; four brothers, Delbert, Clarence, Arnold and Albert Fricke; and three sisters, Marie Krueger, Eleanor Fricke and Doris Janssen.
Memorials may be directed to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Springfield or Zion Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
