Erma Lucille Schwab, 88, of ​Mount Olive, died at 9:31 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, at her residence in Mount Olive.

​Visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 20, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.  at Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive.​ Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, at the funeral home, with Reverend Gary Hanover officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mt. Olive. Following the services a lunch will be held for family and friends at the First Baptist Church Hall. Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Schwab was born on Feb. 20, 1931, in Vandalia, to​ Arthur  and Elsie (Mills) Overby.​ She married Frank  Charles Schwab on March 11, 1949​, in Carlinville.  They later renewed their vows at The Church of the Ascension in Mount Olive.​

​Mrs. Schwab attended Hillsboro schools and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Olive. She was actively engaged  in the church and served in many positions, including treasurer, Sunday school and bible school teacher. She was also an active volunteer at the Gillespie Nursing Home and volunteered her skills regularly to various charities and organizations.​ Mrs. Schwab enjoyed games, particularly pinochle and canasta. She was devoted to her family and loved traveling with her husband.​

Mrs. Schwab is survived by her husband; children, David Schwab of Mount Olive, Diana (Bill) Edwards of Wright City, MO, and Sharon (Tom) Schwab Earll of St. Peters, MO;​ seven grandchildren, Laura, Stephanie, David, Kristen, Brett, Chad and Jonathan; twelve great-grandchildren, Jake, Max, Chance, Lucas, Elsa, Shelby,  Kayla, Bryan, Emily, Lilly, Caitlin and Dominic; and two great-great-grandchildren, Cohen and Lincoln.​

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Stephen Schwab; a grandson, Matt Schwab; three brothers, Jack, Paul and Arthur Overby; four sisters,  Wilma Coleman, Mary Daniel, Elta Dornfield and Violet Bliss. ​
