A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, Sept. 30, beginning at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Litchfield with the Rev. Jason Plummer officiating. Inurnment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is assisting the family.

Ms. Bray was born on Dec. 27, 1937, in Okawville, to the late Walter and Naomi (Meier) Peitzmeyer.

As a young girl, she moved from Lincoln to Litchfield and worked as a nurse’s aid at several nursing homes, including Madison Street Nursing Home, Friendly Haven Nursing Home and Turtle Creek.

Ms. Bray then worked as a housekeeper at The Gardens in Litchfield, later for Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield until her retirement in 2017. She was a very hard worker and her work reflected that.

A member of the First Baptist Church in Litchfield, she loved her church family and would often pass out cards and small gifts. Most of all she loved handing out candy to the children at church.

In her earlier years, she enjoyed camping and fishing. She loved to go dancing with friends and dine out. She was an Elvis fan, who enjoyed watching old movies. Her two little cats, Heidi and Lily, were very special to her.

Ms. Bray will be remembered as a tiny woman, often seen riding her 3-wheeled bicycle around town with her little cat in the basket behind her.

She is survived by her sister, Edna.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Bray was preceded in death by her sister, Helen.

Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church in Litchfield or Adopt-A-Pet in Benld.
