Everett T. Smoot, 89

Everett Thomas Smoot, 89, of Donnellson, died Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at 11:20 a.m. at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Private interment will be held at Bethel Cemetery in Reno. Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Sorento is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smoot was born June 10, 1929, in Granite City, the son of Thomas Stanley and Rose Evelyn (Phillips) Smoot.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II as a radar technician.

Following his service, he worked as a wiring technician for McDonell Douglas and for the State of Indiana Highway Department, before working for Culligan in Litchfield until his retirement.

After retiring, he worked on the family farm with his mother. He helped build the Donnellson Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he was also an active and devoted member.

He helped build the radio station in Donnellson with his vast knowledge of radar, CB and ham radios. He enjoyed his daily long walks.

Mr. Smoot is survived by his children, Kenneth (Lisa) Smoot of Litchfield, Larry Smoot of Hillsboro, Barbara (Ron) Coon of Mt. Olive and Dennis (Lori) Smoot of Rockford; grandchildren, Miranda (Jason) Bergman and Audrey Smoot, both of Litchfield, Challon Smoot of Hillsboro, Kimberly (Josh) Rosales of Laurel, MD, Bailey Smoot of Rockford, and Crystal (Tim) Cwodzinski, Keith (Jessica) Coon, and Kevin (Hannah) Coon, all of Ooltewah, TN; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Glenda Smoot of Hillsboro and Sadie Smoot of Wisconsin; cousin, JoAnn Alexander of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Lloyd and Jim Smoot; and grandson, Jason Smoot.
