The Lincolnwood High School basketball preview night is a tradition in Raymond, but this year's event on Saturday, Nov. 16, has a new twist to it.
For the first time in more than 30 years, female basketball players from Lincolnwood High School will be wearing the orange and black in their home gym as the newly created Lincolnwood Lady Lancers basketball team takes the floor with their brethren from the Lincolnwood/Morrisonville boys basketball team.
The night begins at 4 p.m. with the Basketball and BBQ fundraiser for the Lincolnwood Post Prom. The dinner will run until 6 p.m. and features pork barbecue or Italian beef, sides, desserts and drinks, provided by 6th Street Market in Morrisonville. The cost for adults is $8, while cost for children under five is $3.
The Lincolnwood girls basketball team will take the floor at 6 p.m. to the tune of "Lincolnwood Loyalty," followed by the presentation of the colors by the Lincolnwood FFA and the national anthem by the Lincolnwood choir.
The players and coaches from the girls team, the boys team and the cheerleading squad will be introduced, followed by the tip-off of the girls scrimmage at 6:30 p.m.
At approximately 7 p.m., the boys will take the floor for their warm-up and scrimmage, followed by the introduction of the Morrisonville Junior High boys basketball players and cheerleaders, the high school/junior high cheer routine and the 50-50 drawing.
After the game, there will be a jersey drawing, fans will be able to purchase tickets for a chance to win old Lincolnwood High School basketball jerseys, followed by a reception in the cafeteria.
The Lady Lancers' first game is on Thursday, Nov. 21, at home against Gillespie, while the Lincolnwood boys will start the season at the New Berlin Tournament on Nov. 25, at 5 p.m. against Meridian.
