Farmersville Teen Killed In Car Crash Thursday


A Farmersville teenager was killed Thursday evening, May 9, in a traffic accident in Taylorville.

Austin A. Krager, 18, of Farmersville, was pronounced dead at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  A senior at Lincolnwood High School in Raymond, he would have graduated with the class of 2019 on Friday, May 17.  Classes in the Panhandle School District were cancelled on Friday, May 10, the morning after the fatal accident.

According to Illinois State Police, Krager was driving a 2014 Ford Fusion on McAdam Drive on the northeast side of Taylorville at 7:54 p.m.  As he attempted to turn left onto Route 48, a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse driven by Stephanie Stivers, 41, of Taylorville, collided with Krager's car. 

Both Stivers and a 17-year-old passenger in Krager's vehicle were taken to HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to state police.

The accident remains under investigation by Illinois State Police.
