Florence Phyllis Petroline, 83, of Mt. Olive, died Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at 8:07 a.m. at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 22, from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Mt. Olive. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Father Thomas Hagstrom and Father Larry Anschutz co-officiating. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Mt. Olive. Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Petroline was born Sept. 3, 1935, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of the late Philip and Pauline (Orlando) Grippi. She married Charles Petroline on May 9, 1953, in St. Louis, MO.
She received her General Equivalency Diploma (GED). She belonged to St. John Paul II Catholic Church, formerly the Church of the Ascension in Mt. Olive.
A member of the Altar and Rosary Society, she was a clerk for the County Treasurer's office in Carlinville. She enjoyed traveling and camping, and spending winters in Florida.
She is survived by four sons, Andrew (Linda) Petroline and Robert (Lori) Petroline, all of Staunton, and Phillip (Dena) Petroline and Jerry (Melba) Petroline, all of Sorento; two daughters, Christine (James) Costello and Karen (Tom) Harmon, all of Mt. Olive; one brother, Clarence Grippi of Florissant, MO; seven grandsons, Andrew Petroline, Jr. of Edwardsville, Dustin Petroline of Litchfield, Kevin Petroline of Hillsboro, Brendin Petroline of Staunton, Mark Harmon of Mt. Olive, Paul Harmon of Edwardsville and Wade Petroline of Sorento; three granddaughters, Kate Petroline of Indianapolis, IN, Theresa Petroline of Greenville and Emily Petroline of Sorento; eight great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Charles, Jr. and Danny Petroline.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Cemetery in Mt. Olive, St. John Paul II Improvement Fund or Masses.
