Florian Phillip Przybyl, 89, of Shelbyville, died on Saturday, April 4, 2020.

He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser. Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser is assisting the family.

Mr. Przybyl was born Dec. 10, 1930, to John and Josephine Przybyl of Ripon, WI. He married Mary Ann, and she preceded him in death.

A proud retired Navy veteran, Senior Chief Przybyl served during the Korean and Vietnam wars on nine ships, and was plank owner on three of them. He was one of the first 28 men assigned to the USS Enterprise CVAN65 before it was commissioned. Additionally, he also served as an instructor in the Navy’s Nuclear Program during it’s inception in the 1960s.

Mr. Przybyl is survived by his daughters, Diane (William) Kyle of Litchfield and Elaine Przybyl of Shelbyville; granddaughter, Heather (Rick) Knop of Litchfield; two brothers; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife of 63 years, he was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and two brothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Honor Guard Program or a veteran organization of the donor’s choice.
