A Centralia teen who used to live in Hillsboro was arrested in the Capri IGA parking lot in Hillsboro Friday afternoon, Jan. 22, in a pick-up truck that had been reported stolen in Centralia.
Michael Lablance, 18, of Centralia, formerly of Hillsboro, was taken into custody for possession of a stolen vehicle and two charges of burglary to government supported property.
The Hillsboro Police Department located the stolen vehicle, occupied by Lablance and two other males, in the grocery store parking lot at 2:41 p.m. Friday and conducted what Chief Randy Leetham called “a felony-style traffic stop” in which a firearm, also reported stolen from the Centralia area, was recovered.
Also on Friday, police learned of two burglaries, one at the Hillsboro Sports Complex and the other at Beckemeyer School in Hillsboro. Gas cans that were reported stolen from the school were recovered in the bed of the stolen pick-up.
After a short roadside interview, the two passengers in the stolen vehicle were released, and Lablance was taken to Montgomery County Jail.
