When all of the healthy and well-cared for chickens in a closed pen in Taylor Springs died the same day, police suspect a possible crime.
The Taylor Springs Police Department responded to a residence on Grant Street in T.S. just after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, after the resident returned home to discover all the chickens in a pen had died sometime between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. According to the T.S. Police Department, the chickens were healthy and well taken care of, the pen was completely enclosed, and there was no sign of a predator.
Samples have been sent to the University of Illinois for evaluation, and Montgomery County Animal Control is assisting in the investigation.
