Frances Catherine “Fran” Weitekamp, 88, of Raymond died 10:12 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023 at her home in Raymond with her family by her side.

Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at St. Raymond Catholic Church in Raymond. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at the church with Fr. John Hannigan officiating. Burial will be in St. Raymond's Catholic Cemetery in Raymond.  Hough Funeral Home in Raymond is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Weitekamp was born on April 15, 1935, in Coffeen, the daughter of of Arthur William and Catherine Barbara (Sommer) Ernst. After graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1953, she moved to Springfield to work at Franklin Life Insurance Co. She married Roy L. Weitekamp on Feb. 9, 1957, at St. John's Catholic Church in Coffeen, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 2012.

A homemaker and farm wife, she and her husband were active members with the Illinois Pork Producers Association. She was a founding member of the Panhandle Food Pantry, loved gardening, playing cards and painting, and she liked to crochet hats and sew dresses that were donated to charities. Most of all she loved to visit with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Raymond Catholic Church and St. Raymond Altar and Rosary Society.

She is survived by five children, Dianne (husband Jeff) Hampton of Raymond, Dale (wife Kim) Weitekamp of Raymond, Allan (wife Laurie) Weitekamp of Farmersville, Jane Bynum of Maryland Heights, MO, and Nancy (husband John) Gonzenbach of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Terneus; and three brothers, Lester Ernst, John Ernst, and Henry Ernst.
