Gary C. Cartwright, 75, of Litchfield, died on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, at 2 p.m. at his residence.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. A memorial service will follow, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with his granddaughter, Brooke, giving the eulogy. CDC guidelines, including social distancing and masks, will be followed. Cremation rites were accorded.

Mr. Cartwright was born March 4, 1945, in Hillsboro, to Henry A. and Irene Elizabeth (Stewart) Cartwright. He married Susan Shelton on July 18, 1997, in Poplar Bluff, MO, and she survives.

He graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1964. During his career, he served as head meat cutter at A&P and Kroger stores, and as a meat cutter at Korner Store and Liquor Store in Ramsey. In addition, he was a member of the Meat Cutters UFCW Union Local 655, and had also worked for Penn National Gaming.

Mr. Cartwright enjoyed vacationing with his wife in Las Vegas, NV, taking road trips to Grafton and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved being at the pool, spending time outdoors, camping and fishing.

Throughout his life, he resided in Hillsboro, Walshville and Litchfield.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Cartwright is survived by his children, Darren (wife Connie) Cartwright of Litchfield, Doug (wife Teri) Cartwright of Hillsboro, Melissa (husband Rex) Christer of Gillespie, Danielle (partner Kayla) Shelton, Greg (wife Terri) Satterlee, Chuck (wife Cheryl) Satterlee, all of Mt. Olive, and Joshua Shelton; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Carrie Snyder Satterlee; and brothers, Jim Cartwright and Donald Cartwright.
