Gary L. Kious, 75, of Coffeen, died on Friday, July 16, 2021, at 3:52 p.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 24, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Indian Springs Golf Course in Fillmore. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family.

Mr. Kious was born Sept. 27, 1945, in Vandalia, to Cleo and Ruth (Hubbard) Kious. He married Debra A. Tiemann on June 1, 2002, in Coffeen, and she survives.

He graduated from Mulberry Grove High School. During his career, he served as a truck driver and marshall at Indian Springs Golf Course in Fillmore, and had also worked for Olin ammunitions manufactory.

Mr. Kious was a member of the Teamsters Union, Mt. Nebo Primitive Baptist Church in Greenville and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Throughout his lifetime, he resided in Mulberry Grove, Godfrey and Coffeen.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Renea (husband Marshall) Kious Harpster of St. Peter, Tracy (husband Randy) Smith and Julie Slimick, both of Bethalto; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Kious was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother.

Memorials may be directed to the Montgomery County Cancer Association, American Heart Association or Indian Springs Golf Course in Fillmore.
