Gary Lee Kolkhorst, 77, of Litchfield, formerly of Raymond and Harvel, died on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020, at 7:56 a.m. at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 14, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Jan. 15, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield with the Rev. James F. Ritter officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.

Mr. Kolkhorst was born Aug. 20, 1942, in Litchfield, to Wilbert Herman and Wilma Vera Caroline (Brockmeyer) Kolkhorst. He married Sherlyn "Sherry" Kay Clevenger on June 24, 1962, at St. James Lutheran Church in Harvel, and she survives.

He graduated from Raymond High School with the class of 1960, and went on to become a lifelong farmer in the Raymond and Harvel areas.

Mr. Kolkhorst was a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau, where he served on the board of directors for several years and was past president; and the 3M Firefighters Association. Additionally, he served as a volunteer firefighter for the Raymond-Harvel Fire Department for several years.

He enjoyed St. Louis Cardinalds baseball and was a big fan.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Kolkhorst is survived by his son, Mark (Char) Kolkhorst of Overland Park, KS; daughter, Marci (Greg) Millburg of Sycamore; brother, Ron Kolkhorst of Chicago; five grandchildren, Lexie, Kyle and Adam Millburg, Samantha (fiance Austin Denny) Kolkhorst and Sophie Kolkhorst; nephew, Bradley Kolkhorst; and niece, Ronda Clarke.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
