Gary Lee Probst, 79, of Vandalia, died on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
He requested no services or memorials. His cremation ashes are to be spread in the Pacific Ocean.
Mr. Probst was born on Sept. 15, 1945, the son of John Earl and Evelyn (Hoffman) Probst.
He will always be remembered for his hearty laugh, the mischievous twinkle in his eyes and that he never met a stranger.
He was a disabled Army veteran having served in Thailand and loved the farm life.
Mr. Probst is survived by his wife, Maria Concepcion (Connie) V. Probst of Vandalia; sons, Aaron Probst, Daniel Probst and Timothy Probst, all of Washington; and sisters, Connie Weller of Bethalto, and Gail Greer of O’Fallon.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
