Gary Lee Wise, 73, of Litchfield, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, at 12:32 a.m. at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Schwab of First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield officiating. Burial will be held in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville.
Mr. Wise was born Dec. 3, 1945, in Medora, a son of Freab Matthew and Martha Pearl (Greenstreet) Wise. He married the former Nancy Carol Green on June 6, 1965, in Carlinville, and she survives.
A 1963 graduate of Carlinville High School, he was a meat cutter with the Meat Cutters Local 534 with National Foods, Tom Boy and Kroger.
He was a partner with his dad at Wise Lumber Mill, and owned Litchfield Rug and Furniture Cleaners with his wife from 1986 to 2012. He was a Ward 1 alderman for 12 years from 1981 to 1989, and 2007 to 2011.
A member of the Litchfield Moose Lodge #1634, he coached little league baseball and girls softball. He enjoyed football.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Craig (Peggy) Wise and Christopher (Dana) Wise, both of Springfield; one sister, Wanda (David) Link of Gillespie; and one granddaughter, McKenna Dawn Wise.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kelly Dawn Wise; two brothers, William "Buck" Wise and Robert Wise; and two sisters, Donna Brooks and Helen Foster.
