George E. Friesland, Jr., 71, of Litchfield, died on Friday, April 16, 2021, at 8:50 p.m. at Heritage Health: Therapy and Senior Care in Staunton.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. A graveside service will follow, beginning at 1 p.m. at Clear Springs Cemetery in Hillsboro. Due to CDC guidelines, social distancing and masks will be required.

Mr. Friesland was born Jan. 13, 1950, in Okawville, to George Edwin and Helen Mae (Sanders) Friesland, Sr. He married Sandy Handegan, and they later divorced. He then married Vickie Jacobs on April 4, 1998, in Litchfield, and she survives.

A graduate of Hillsboro High School, he went on to serve as a machine operator at Fiat Allis. He then owned and operated A&B Automotive in Litchfield, and also worked at Water Bug Marina and Kruse Auto Salvage.

Mr. Friesland loved fishing and being outdoors, and loved his muscle cars. He always thought of others first. During his lifetime, he resided in Wilsonville, Witt, Nokomis and Litchfield.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, George E. Friesland III of Litchfield; stepchildren, Dustin and Colt Trimble and Toni (husband Robert) Lowenthal; two grandchildren, Allie and Tyson Friesland of Litchfield; stepgrandchildren, Breanna, Ryleigh, Ashlynn, Hoyt, Tristan, LaVeda Noel, Taylor, Tabitha, Lanie, Colson and Silas; three great-grandchildren, Kyson, Ayden and LaVeda Antonia; and siblings, William (wife Diane) Friesland of Witt, Violet Van Dee of Wilsonville, Patsy Mier, James (wife Melody) Friesland, Joe (wife Melissa) Friesland, all of Taylorville, Claude (wife Rhonda) Friesland, Dean Friesland, Helen (husband Richard) Berner, all of Ramsey, and Daniel Friesland of Decatur.

Mr. Friesland was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Linda Fenton.
