George S. Widner, 70

George Steven Widner, 70, of Edwardsville, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

In accordance to his wishes, his body was cremated. A private family visitation will be held at Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel.

Mr. Widner was born Oct. 11, 1950, in Litchfield, the son of George and Edna (Furgerson) Widner. He married Kathleen K. White on Oct. 31, 1998, and she survives.

He was a graduate of Assumption High School. A welder his entire career, he worked at Schein Auto Body, A.O. Smith, Tower Automotive and Ketchum Sheep Equipment. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Steve (Wendy) Hays of California, and Kraig (Rene) Widner of Brighton; daughters, Kayla (Robert) Orban of Brighton, Casandra (Matt) Carney of Edwardsville and Samantha (James) Smith of Dorsey; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Alice Young of Litchfield, Lucy Perkins of Mattoon, Wanda Widner of Pleasant Plains and Lilly (Bob) Hemken of Walshville; and brother, Paul (Debbie) Widner of Eagerville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James Widner, Butch Widner, Luther Widner and Bill Widner; and sister, Harriette Stewart.
