Georgia Armstrong, 82, of Mulberry Grove, died on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by loving family.

There will be no public services. A private burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Assalley-Young Funeral Home in Greenville is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Armstrong was born on Feb. 21, 1941, in Shipman, the daughter of George and Mildred (Baze) Scoggins. She married Arthur Armstrong of Jerseyville on April 13, 1990.

Mrs. Armstrong had a wonderful, but sharp sense of humor, a quick wit and was generally funny. She loved her family dearly. Mrs. Armstrong loved to go out, and took pride in being well groomed.

In a prior marriage, she lived overseas for many years, mostly in the Philippines and Okinawa. When she returned to Jerseyville, she became a member of the Lutheran Church, which she loved very much.  Mrs. Armstrong enjoyed horses and dogs and had her own dog grooming service in Jerseyville.  She was also a member of the Jerseyville Elks Club. When Mrs. Armstrong moved into the Greenville Nursing and Rehab Center, she was the same lively, fun, exuberant character as in her younger days.

Mrs. Armstrong is survived by a sister, Dimitria ‘Wahker’ (Jerry) Davis of Edwardsville; a sister-in-law, Janet Scoggins of Mulberry Grove; two nephews, Rick (Lisa) Scoggins of Highland and Rusty (Angie) Scoggins of Mulberry Grove; and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Kenneth Scoggins.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 400 E. Hillview Drive, Greenville, IL 62246. Condolences may be left online at www.assalleyfuneralhomes.com.
