Gerald Lee Hauskins, 85, of Greenville, died in the early morning hours on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Visitation and a memorial service for Mr. Hauskins was held on Saturday, July 11 at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield with Pastor Dale Deverick officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Union Grove Cemetery in rural Greenville.
Mr. Hauskins was born in Sorento on August 24, 1940, a son of William R.J. and Gloria Natalene (Green) Hauskins.
He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He farmed for several years, did sandblasting for people restoring antique tractors and owned and operated an antique store in Donnellson. He was a member of New Beginnings Church, where he served as a deacon. He also held memberships at the Donnellson Lodge #255, A.F. and A.M., the Bond County Shriners and the Litchfield Senior Citizens Club.
Mr. Hauskins was a people person and visiting with others always put a smile on his face. He enjoyed putting in and tending to a large vegetable garden and sharing the bounty with others. He married the former Lois Edna Christin in 1961 and she passed July 30, 2005. On November 28, 2008, he married Judy Marie (Doyen) Eichelberger, and she survives.
Mr. Hauskins is survived by his daughter, Kathy “Kat” Shaw of Litchfield; sons, Robert (Cheryl) Hauskins of Wichita, KS, and Jack (Brandie) Hauskins of Greenville; stepsons, Stuart (Kim) Finley of Morton, Chad Eichelberger, Kevin Eichelberger and Chris (Kim) Eichelberger, all of Litchfield; grandchildren, Heather (Shawn) Schaller, Megan Hauskins, Justin DeVries, Gretchen DeVries, Lily Hauskins and Allee Hauskins; step-grandchildren, Heather Quiroz, Amber Finley, Kevin (Karisa) Eichelberger, Kyle (Sydney) Eichelberger and Chase Eichelberger; great-grandchild, Camden Schaller; and several step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Gloria Hauskins; his first wife, Lois Hauskins; and a step-grandson, Cole Eichelberger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Litchfield Senior Citizens Club.
Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield assisted the family with arrangements.
