Geraldine Ann "Gerry" Oxley, 82, of Girard, died on Tuesday evening, Aug. 21, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, from 9 to 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Girard. Funeral Mass will follow, beginning at 10 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Robert Jallas officiating.

Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Tacoma, WA, at a later date. Davis Anderson Funeral Home in Girard is assisting the family.

Mrs. Oxley was born July 22, 1936, in Ft. Lewis, WA, to the late Ernest and Angeline (Cimino) Frick.

She graduated from Tokyo American High School "Narimasu" in Tokyo, Japan, then obtained her education degree at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA, in 1958.

Mrs. Oxley taught junior high school at Our Savior Grade School in Jacksonville for 30 years and retired in 2007. Prior to teaching in Jacksonville, she taught school overseas in Italy, Japan and Germany.

She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Blues fan, and loved to travel and do cross-stitching.

Mrs. Oxley is survived by her daughter, Rachel (Pat) Cunningham of Farmersville; a brother, David (Lois) Frick of Tacoma, WA; and numerous cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Frick; and her sister, Kay Frick.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
