Geraldine “Jeri” (Strange) Landholt, 100, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at Alden Estates in Naperville.

A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Future inurnment will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro. Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Naperville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Landholt was born May 30, 1919, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Dr. Eury Boon and Floy Belle (Cannon) Strange.  She married H. Byron Landholt on Aug. 30, 1941, in Hillsboro, and he preceded her in death in 2006.

A graduate of Hillsboro High School, she attended Illinois State Normal College in Normal, where she studied at Gradwohl Laboratory and X-Ray in St. Louis, MO.  She worked as a medical laboratory technician, as well as in medical transcription for some time. In the 1960s, she received her real estate license in Oklahoma.

She was an avid reader, reading two to three books a week. She loved to dance with her husband, go to the movies, and play bridge with her sister and many friends, which she did while living in several states, including Illinois, Iowa, New York, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Indiana.

She is survived by her son, William W.  (Barbara Saunders) Landholt of Naperville; daughter, Julie K. Landholt of Burbank, CA; six grandchildren, Kimberly K. Landholt of Naperville, Cary D. Landholt of Arlington Heights, Nikki Holsopple of Columbus, OH, Kristin Landholt of Sapulpa, OK, Timothy (Sarah) Landholt of Columbia, SC, and Heather (Ben) Riddle of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and great-grandchildren, Holly Holsopple (Keller) Biswurm, Tyler Holsopple, David Landholt II, S. Landholt, Vance Riddle and Landon Riddle.

In addition to her parents and husband of 65 years, she was preceded in death by her sister, Floy M. Mayer; brother-in-law, Charles “Chop” Mayer; two brothers, Reginald Cannon and Eury Elston Strange and their spouses; and two sons, David Eury and James Andrew Landholt.
