Gilbert Leroy Dealey, Sr., 79, of Staunton, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021, at his residence, surrounded by family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

Mr. Dealey was born on May 20, 1941, in Litchfield, the son of Oliver C. and Lola Mae (Burdell) Dealey. He married Barbara Ann Blevins on Nov. 25, 1957, and they divorced. He later married Alice Flynn on Oct. 17, 1980, and she preceded him in death on June 1, 2006.

He was a Navy veteran. For many years, he was a construction laborer for Local 84, from where he also retired. He worked for the Three County Public Water District as a meter reader. In his leisure time, he enjoyed visits with family and friends, playing cards, music and a good joke.

Mr. Dealey is survived by three daughters, Toni (husband Jim) Fey of Staunton, Melissa (husband Johny) Leonard of Litchfield and Judy (husband John) Deininger of Worden; five sons, Gilbert “Gib” (wife Leslie) Dealey, Jr. of Sawyerville, Montgomery “Monty” (wife Dorothy) Dealey, Robert “Bobby” (wife Meshelle) Dealey, all of Litchfield, and Kyle and Matthew Rothe of Staunton; two stepsons, Rodney VanHuss and Ricky Flynn; sisters, Bobbi Newby and Joyce Hogan; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; companion, Jean Sies of Staunton; and an aunt, Kathleen Reed.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert Denny; stepbrother, Sam Denny; stepdaughter, Tina Rothe; and a daughter-in-law, Colleen Dealey.
