Just four strokes separated Litchfield, Lincolnwood and Carlinville on Monday, Sept. 16, as the Lady Cavaliers hosted the two Montgomery County schools and Southwestern at the Carlinville Country Club.
By the smallest of margins, Litchfield would take the top spot at the meet to improve to 15-4 on the year, while Lincolnwood was second, moving their record to 12-5.
The Lady Panthers would shoot a 207 to beat the Lady Lancers by one stroke. Lincolnwood would hold onto second though, beating Carlinville by three strokes despite a medalist performance from Elsa Medford, who shot a 41.
The Litchfield girls were led by Carly Guinn, who carded a 10-over-par 46 on the day. Laura Boston would add in a 49, while Hailey Rentz and Jordan Ramey both shot 56s to finish out the scoring. Alyssa Loyd and Lily Braasch would also play for the Panthers, shooting rounds of 62 and 63 respectively.
Lincolnwood was led by Stephanie Perun, who shot a 48 on the day for one of her best rounds of the year. Sydney Herman and Jordyn Gerlach weren't far behind their teammate, with rounds of 50 and 52, while Dorie Krager finished out the scoring with a 58. Shelby Hattenbach and Micah Gehlbach rounded out the lineup for Lincolnwood with a 66 and a 70.
The two county foes and Carlinville are all in the same regional this year as well, which will be played at The Rail Golf Course in Springfield on Oct. 10.

The Litchfield girls golf team earned three more wins and bragging rights on Tuesday, Sept. 17, as they defeated rival Hillsboro, Pana and Civic Memorial at the Litchfield Country Club.
The Lady Panthers shot a 201 on the day to beat second place Pana by 28 strokes. Civic Memorial would be third with a 232, while Hillsboro was fourth with a 238.
Laura Boston would lead Litchfield, and everyone else, as she captured medalist honors with an 8-over-par 45. Boston's round would be six strokes better than the runner-up, who also came from Litchfield as Carly Guinn and Hailey Rentz tied for the second spot with a pair of 51s.
Alyssa Loyd would shoot a 54 for the fourth scoring round, while Jordan Ramey and Lily Braasch also played, shooting 59 and 71 respectively.
Hillsboro's Meagan Jorn would post the fourth best individual score, shooting a 55. Teammate Erin Kistner was right behind her with a 56, while Alex Frailey added a 60. Anna Colwell and Aurelie Granito tied for the fourth scoring round with a pair of 67s.
The two county teams will see each other twice more this season, on Sept. 25 in Pana and at the South Central Conference tournament at Indian Springs on Sept. 30, but are headed different directions for postseason play.
The Toppers will be at Eagle Creek Golf Course in Findlay on Oct. 10, for the Okaw Valley Regional, while Litchfield heads to The Rail in Springfield the same day for the Williamsville Regional.

Despite playing without one of their top players, the Lincolnwood girls golf team still made a good showing at the Lady Viper Open at Terry Park Golf Course in Palmyra on Saturday, Sept. 14.
The Lancers would finish fourth overall in the team ranks, shooting a 425 for the 18-hole tournament, but had three players in the top ten.
Dorie Krager would be fourth overall with a 92, while Jordyn Gerlach was ninth with a 99. Stephanie Perun completed the top ten trio with a 100 to finish in the tenth spot.
Only Williamsville, who took home the team title with a 371, would finish with as many players in the top ten as the Lancers.
In addition to the aforementioned three, Lincolnwood also received a 134 from Micah Gehlbach and a 148 from Shelby Hattenbach.
The host team, the South County Vipers, would finish second with a 403, while Auburn was third with a 418. Carrollton finished fifth overall with a 468, while Northwestern and Carlinville also sent individual golfers.

The Lincolnwood girls golf team finished in the middle of the pack at Timber Lakes Golf Course on Tuesday, Sept. 17, finishing second to South County in a triangular at the Staunton course.
The Lancers would shoot a 211 as a team, eight strokes back from the Vipers, who shot a 203 behind medalist Callie Hughes' 46. Ramsey would finish a close third with a 214.
Playing without Stephanie Perun, one of their top players this year, Lincolnwood was led by Sydney Herman, who was two strokes behind Hughes with a 48.
Dorie Krager was two strokes behind Herman with a 50, while Jordyn Gerlach continued the trend with a 52. In her first year on the golf team, Micah Gehlbach would contribute the fourth scoring round with a 61. Shelby Hattenbach also played for the Lancers, shooting a 67 on the day.
Ramsey, who co-ops with Nokomis for golf, was led by Cecelia Ritter with a 48. Sam Stokes would add a 53, while Brianna Hayes and Kourtney Janssen finished out the scoring with a 55 and a 58. Brooke Benhoff and Emma Sneddon also played for Ramsey, shooting a 60 and a 66.
Lincolnwood will be in Pana on Thursday, Sept. 19, as they take on Effingham St. Anthony and Pana at Oak Terrace.
