Glenn Anthony Brown, 91, died in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at his home in Farmersville.

Cremation rites were accorded. Private family services will be held. Bramley Funeral Home in Divernon assisted the family with arrangements.

Mr. Brown was a lifelong resident of Farmersville. He was born on May 24, 1932, to Ralph and Mary Lena (Millburg) Brown, the fourth of five children. Mr. Brown was a 1950 graduate of Farmersville High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War.

He married Ella Marie (Beechner) Brown on Jan. 26, 1957, and they shared 66 years of marriage. After Mr. Brown returned from the war, he served as an Illinois State Trooper.  He then served as the postmaster in Farmersville, and went on to become a coal miner. It was important to him to instill a strong work ethic and commitment to service in his children. The family mowed lawns (at times more than 50 lawns) and delivered the State Journal Register in Farmersville for many years. Mr. Brown retired from Crown II Coal Mine in 1994, but he never stopped working. He resumed mowing lawns and delivering the State Journal Register long after his retirement.

Mr. Brown always found ways to help others whether it be scooping snow, mowing or delivering Meals on Wheels with his wife. He loved his family, his community and his country. Mr. Brown enjoyed spending time with his friends sharing stories and life lessons. He had a profound impact on both his family and his friends.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife; children, Linda S. (Lynn) Boston of Girard,  Larry J. Brown of Springville, TN, Stephen P. (Renee) Brown of Morrisonville and Brian L. Brown (Crysta Weitekamp) of Pawnee; grandchildren, Janelle (Robert) Fanning of Girard, Kelly Boston (Matt Bostick) of Farmersville, Allison Boston of Girard, Matthew (Jessica) Boston of Girard, Jarrad (Jackie) Brown of Springfield, Ethan (Katie) Brown of Morrisonville, Alyssa (Matthew) Rever of Raeford, NC, and Leyton (Alyssa) Brown of Urbana; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Charlotte Fanning, Kallen Bostick, Easton, Landon and Peyton Boston, Andrew and Tyler Brown, and Trenton and Adalyn Rever.
