An organization that has diligently worked to make improvements at Glenn Shoals Lake in Hillsboro raised funds to keep that work going during the Glenn Shoals Lake Club Aqua Run on Saturday, July 27.
More than 300 people participated in the event, which began at noon at the South Marina, concluded back at the marina that evening with prizes, food, and live music by ReMix.
Boaters made six stops on the lake in an attempt to build the best poker hand by the end of the day. Each stop also had special events planned. The first stop was sponsored by Bob's Marine at the North Marina, the second stop was sponsored by Steve Schmitt-Brubaker at the Kindernays, the third was sponsored by Roger Jennings on city ground by the dam, the fourth was sponsored by Victory Lane at the Cowell lot, the fifth was sponsored by Lemo's at the Compton and Christy lot, and the final poker stop was sponsored by Ultimate Collision Center and the Leetham lot.
The high hand was a three-way tie between Jane Johnson, Holly Leetham and Krista Marquess. Johnson won in an on-stage roll-off, and donated half of her prize back to the lake club.
Sharon Huddleston won the low hand prize, Kim Blankenship won the 50/50 drawing and donated a portion back. There were also three big raffle prizes: Ultimate Collision Center donated a 50-inch Vizio smart TV, Mike and Morgan Hilgendorf won a Yeti Tundra 65 cooler donated by Roger Jennings, Sally Harmon won a Rubber Dockie Aqua Mat donated by Victory Lane Ford.
