Gloria J. Leitschuh, 78

Gloria Jean Leitschuh, 78, formerly of Litchfield, died Wednesday, June 19, 2019, on hospice at her home, with her children by her side.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Litchfield. A Celebration of Life and Memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. 

Ms. Leitschuh was born Jan. 25, 1941, in Los Angeles, CA, a daughter of Tressie N. (Dorgan) Hampton and Virgil Gray of Burney, CA. She married Anthony Lee Leitschuh on June 29, 1957, at St. Aloysius Church in Litchfield.

She and her husband resided in Litchfield before moving to Morrisonville, where they owned and operated an automotive garage for 40 years.

A member of St. Maurice Catholic Church and the church Altar and Rosary Society in Morrisonville, she was involved in Koinonia retreats, serving as director when called upon. She later moved to St. Louis, MO, to be near her grandchildren.

She served in many capacities, most notably as a volunteer at the Jacksonville Mental Health Center, a counselor at Rape Information and Counseling Services in Springfield and as a manager at Parkview Towers in University City, MO.

She loved the beach and the water, and enjoyed water skiing. She also enjoyed dancing, singing, shopping and spending time with family and friends. 

The life of the party, she loved to tell a good story. She loved and cared for her chihuahua, Bambi. She had a deep and abiding faith, and was a generous and dependable friend.

She is survived by her children, Michael Anthony Leitschuh and his partner, Tom Walden of St. Louis, MO, and Gloria A. Leitschuh and her partner, Annette Becherer of Ashmore; sister, Barbara Black of Oceanside, CA; two grandchildren, Mitchell L. Leitschuh and his partner, Merrill  Arens of New York City, NY, and Margo M. Leitschuh and her partner, Bradley Gleason of Columbia, MO.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Glenda L. Dworschak; and her stepfather, Lou Dorgan.
